In prior meets I saw a few HO/N in the Purple Hall (one along the North wall near West entrance had a lot of Walthers structures and supplies) also were a few tables w/ some locos/cars and in the center area.  Very few scattered w/i the aisles of Orange hall, but you never know those few might have what your friend needs or wants.

Actually due to size of York you are likely to find as much HO as any local show. What you do find will likely be priced lower than average. On two occasions I have seen tables with dozens of brass items. One table had well over 50 brass cabooses, some painted, some not all selling for well under 100 bucks.

If you are looking for the latest releases this is not the place but lots of older stuff for sure.

I think it's limited but yes you'll find some.

I was amazed at how much G (One Gauge ) I have found in my last two York's.

I am not as experienced as most of the attendees but believe gauges are coming together in the large train meets. Maybe wrong but in the few other meets I get to attend I see that as well as my visits at York.

York is to me like the Super Bowel of toy trains to me.

And lets face it the hobby isn't quite the illustrate thing it use to be. Gauges are going to cross mingle in my opinion.

The shows are costing big money for sellers and business. Forget gauges , all of them need to get involved with the super bowel.

To me it's logical.

Just a thought. Have Fun!!!!

I am an O scale guy but my guest is building an HO railroad. I have never really paid attention to the HO there. I hope he will not be disappointed. Are there many HO vendors/products at York?

I brought an HO friend of mine to York - he walked away with a lot of great stuff - cheap!  I saw Kato engines going for $20 each.

You'll find a lot of well-used HO, often stashed under tables.  I suspect that for most folks, it was stuff that was thrown in when they found a collection of O.

I've seen prices all over the place - some folks want $10 each for old Tyco cars with horn-hook couplers, while others have boxes of decent stuff priced to move.  Buying in bulk would seem to be a good strategy.

"Very little."  About 1:87.  Get it?

Gee, do I have to explain it to everybody?

On a scale of one to one hundred your reply gets an 87...

I can't hold back any longer.  I was going to post this response when you first posted this thread.   I'm sure Farmer Bill thought the same thing.  When you asked "Is there much of an HO presence at YORK?"  I was going to respond "it depends which section of town and hotel you are in".

It depends on what you are looking for.  Vintage HO does show up at York.  Penn Line, Varney, English, and the like.  New HO is not readily available at York.  Another good show for HO is the Allentown show.  My uncle goes every year, but I haven't been there in 30 years.  I believe it is still a good show.

Allentown Spring Thaw and First Frost meets are terrific. I try to go each year. Rare that our group doesn't come home with something. Lots of HO.

Lots of HO at Allentown, and one is coming up in a couple of weeks.

Agreed, A-town's 2 day show is very good for HO & N as well as pretty much all other scales.  Plus it's also easy access from PA TPK NE Ext, I-78, Rt-309 and Rt-22.

This York, i have seen much more HO than i ever remember.  Also I'm seeing a noticeable number of empty tables/spaces this York so far.

I thought the public/Greenberg/WGH magic pill would fix that.

How are you seeing this?  The meet doesn't open until the day after tomorrow.

If I perfected the ability to travel into the future, I would probably choose to use it differently.  But that's just me...

AUSSTEVE "this York" York doesn't start till Thursday.

Sorry Eddie G, didnt mean to confuse you.

There are some train shows going on at various hotels and fire halls in York that are held before and even during the official TCA York train show.  If you come before Thursday you can shop at those shows also.  Several of these vendors don't setup at the TCA show.

Just more to see and buy.  Come early sometime, you might like it.

Hi Experienced Yorkers,

I don't mean to change the topic but I don't want to start another thread just to pose a similar question.

Is there much of a 2 Rail presence at York?

Dave

I am also into 2R and I attend almost every York. I go for the other things that 2R has in common with 3R like structures, figures, and anything else for a layout besides track and trains. However, there usually is a small amount of 2R trains there. I picked and Weaver or Quality Craft plastic hopper for $25. It is nicely weathered. One dealer who is always in the Orange Hall had an AA set of Williams PRR E7s for $225 (professionally converted to 2R by Baldwin Forge and Machine). He also had an older not highly detailed Lionel NYC Mohawk but scale sized for $350 also converted by BF&M. He had a bunch of 2R rolling stock too. If you are big into 2R you are better off going to one of the many good 2R shows like Strasburg as York is predominantly 3 rail toy trains, 3 rail scale trains and S scale trains but as person who likes 2R I enjoy York for the things 2R and 3R have in common and since many of my friends are 3R I enjoy seeing them as well.
