I want to power my TIU and I am using a transformer which seems to be working fine.
Here are the specs on it:
output 9VDC 300mA
So far I am having no issues and everything is running fine.

Gerry,
Its way too small for a TIU at only 9 volts and 300 ma. Spec calls for a 1.5 amp power supply at 12-22 volt, but the Radio Shack one, at 1.0 amp, seems to work fine.
I would not use the one that you have under any circumstances.
thanks Barry.
I use these from Radio Shack. I don't know if they are still available.
#273-1650 - 18-24 VAC, 1000mA AC Power Adapter
#273-1716 - Adaptaplug "M"
Bill,
Those have been replaced, From The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition:
Another source of power for the TIU's Aux. Power port is the Radio Shack "#273-331 "Enercell™ Switchable 18/24VAC 1 AMP Power Adapter with #273-344 Enercell™ Adaptaplug™ M. It should be used on the 18 volt setting.
This and a whole lot more is all in "The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", now available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book from MTH's web store site! Click on the link below to go to MTH's web page for the book!
Now here's a possible dumb question, does polarity matter on the auxilary TIU power plug in, or will it rectify polarity on it's own? Add- what is correct for plug polarity...outside pos/inside neg...or vise versa?
I just found a wall transformer that's rated at 12v, 1.5amps and think this might be fine for powering my TIU board - but I haven't checked what the plug polarity is since it's not marked.
Bob,
If you're using a wall wart to power the TIU via the Aux. Power port, polarity is not an issue.
The power adapter you describe this time sounds as if it will work fine.
