Where can I find insulated track pins for standard gauge tubular?
Replies sorted oldest to newest
A Lionel train store. Lionel's parts dept. I believe there are some on eBay right now.
John, the plastic insulated pins for standard gauge tubular track are the same as the pins for O gauge tubular track. Since there's much more O gauge out there, that is how they are usually marketed. Find them on ebay in the O gauge section, or from the train small parts places like Smitty's, Brasseur, Tebolt, etc. Here is the link for Brasseur, scroll down to part 6-65543:

O27 is a smaller pin, so be sure you get the ones for traditional (high rail) O gauge.
We have them. www.StandardGaugeTrack.com

Say Kirk.
Have you considered manufacturing track with the insulated outside rail? Having to manufacture the stuff myself is such a pain.
Insulating the outside rail of existing track is a pain (believe me, I know, I have one 250 foot loop on my home layout with all insulated outside rail track), so USA Track now offers all sections made that way during manufacture. The additional charge is $1.00 each for 7" and 14" straights, $1.50 each for all curves and $2.00 each for 36" straights.

Kirk is right, insulating your own track is not fun. Well worth the extra cost.
Thanks Kirk.
I did not know you offered the insulated sections. I'll be sure to check it out.
