I'm hoping I can get some help I'm having with a newly purchased MTH Great Northern SD45. This is my 6th MTH engine and I've never had an issue before so I'm kind of stumped where to proceed.
I went through the normal procedure of adding a new engine but I received error messages of "check track" and "engine error". I then went through cleaning the track, checking the connections, etc...but still got the same errors. Then I put another of my MTH engines on the track and checked the signal and got a 10 out of 10. I also changed the batteries in the dcs controller just in case it might be that. I then put the engine on an isolated loop of track and again had no luck-same set of error messages. I also put a different MTH engine on the isolated loop track to check signal and got a 10 for 10. I also have checked the 2rail/3 rail and dcs polarity switches and they are both on the 3 rail sides. I then set up the loop for conventional control and found that the engine does run. It powers up, sounds and lights function, and it goes through the normal neutral-forward-neutral-reverse-neutral scheme.
So, the only thing I can think is that there is some issue with the dsc board in the engine? Any thoughts/suggestions/advise would be greatly appreciated.

Take all your engine off the track except the problem engine and try adding again. If a no go I would reset the remote and start adding all the engines again starting with the problem engine. Only the one engine you're trying to add should be on powered track. The rest should be taken off the track or put on dead sidings. (with only 6 engines it should go fairly smoothly )
I am having a similar problem Engine Error with a new steamer from MTH. PS3, have all the latest upgrades in the DCS system and only engine on track, other locos get a track signal of 10.
Tried in different locations on track and different TIU's output channels.

Just added a different engine with no problems but this new on cannot seem to load??

I really really do not want to have to remove a bunch of lashups to load one engine. And I do not want to reset the remote have loads of stuff loaded to it. Any other suggestions??

First, try to reset the engine using conventional controls and then try to add it to the remote.

Second, edit the engine IDs of your existing lash-ups up in the 60's or 70's to make sure there's an empty spot lower in the list for new engines with existing IDs that may conflict with your lash-up IDs.
