Ameritown kit #962 has roof top parapet molding on all of the pieces except the first floor front. Unless this is a packing error we'll have to sand the tops down so they line up.
Has anyone come across this?

what I tried to say is that all of the sides for the 1st floor have parapets or roof top molding that appears to have to be trimmed off so that the 2nd floor pieces will fit and line up properly. Nothing in the instructions indicates that this needs to be done.
RTR12 thank you.  I was hoping someone on the forum had one of these 6 story kits and could shed some light.

I'll call OGR in the morning, I don't think they'd sell a kit that requires the wall tops to be trimmed down to fit properly.

Thanks Dave, we kind of guessed that.

It would be nice if cutting was mentioned somewhere in the literature, as well as that the plastic has to be washed before painting.  There is no way to know that cutting is required by looking at the box or instructions.

Hi Bill save yourself some time and just buy these MTH buildings and maybe weather them if you like just a thought,  30thstreet

The MTH buildings are nice because you can buy extra floors or buy two and take them apart floor by floor and put them together into one.  I had two of the Susquehanna Hat factory (similar to the lower of the two above) that i took apart and made into a two story building (first two floors) and a ten story building.  I really like the first floor windows and the rolling alley door (which really works).  I don't like the frosted windows so much but they are easy to replace with clear.

Lionelbill....you are correct.  I think that something should be mentioned within the instructions or on the box that a little cutting is required.  I put one of these kits together and found the same thing you did..!!  What I did was I took a file and used the most coarse side to file down the top edge and then finished it off with a fine file.  Worked like a charm...

Thanks for purchasing the kit!!

Alan

Thanks all.
I was traveling over the weekend.  I spoke to OGR on Friday was told that the instructions do mention trimming the sides, so I re-read the instructions and the last line of the first paragraph does indicate trimming the top of the sides to the brick line.  mea culpa!

HOLY COW LIONELBILL  you didn't read the instructions completely. i often wondered why they put those pieces of paper in the box. i guess its for us guys that can put everything together without needing them but then when the blasted thing doesn't work or fit together properly it seems like something to look at then. don't feel bad i think i've done that maybe once in my life or maybe twice that i will admit to.
