Recently, I have acquired an MTH Railking L1s PS3 Mikado. While overall the engine runs fine, there is a recurrent issue involving the operation of the engine. Whenever I have removed the engine from the track and put it back on the track, the engine sounds will turn on and the tender backup light, but no lights on the engine, and it won't move. After about ten minutes of random fiddling with it, the engine usually runs fine. Today, when I put it back on the track, it did the usual routine described above, but after fiddling with the wireless drawbar, the engine would move forward for about two feet, then the engine would stop moving and the smoke/lights would turn off. I'm pretty certain my wireless drawbar is the cause, but I don't know what the specific problem is and how to fix it. The pickup rollers are on the engine, but the electronics are in the tender.

Also, I'm not totally sure whether I should post this under DCS issues or Hi-Rail.

This is normal behavior for a PS3 steamer when the wireless drawbar is not plugged all the way into the socket.

I also have the PS3 RK Imperial Mikado and mine runs like a champ. The only exception is that it will stall over a ladder of 5 Ross turnouts at a speed below about 15 SMPH. I plan to put a pickup roller on the tender to remedy this issue.

Marty hit it.  If not that, then tender side internal.  Sometimes a bad connector lets the pins push out a wire from the plastic connector.  G
