Unexpected nostalgia fest,I was digging out a cd crate and the label reminded me it was exactly 20 years ago today my dad teated me to the steam engine heavy Rail Fair '99. I am so lucky to see all the exhibits at the show. Growing up in the Midwest in the 70s,finally seeing the 4449 Daylight engine in person was a real highlight.

In a joke that might not make much sense today, or with the younger crowd, AT&SF engine 3751 sported a great sign on the back of her tender:

Took our family cross-country trip via Amtrak in '99. We went DC to Chicago, Flagstaff, LA, San Francisco, Seattle, and back to Chicago - a giant figure-eight shaped itinerary. Didn't get to Sacramento sorry to say.
