I would like to put together a tinplate scrap yard for my permanent layout. However, I really would prefer not to use items that are restorable. The rustier and and more damaged the better. I would like a shell from a standard gauge steamer with so piping and domes still in tact. I would also like maybe one front or trailing truck, and 3-4 drive wheels that have deteriorated. Is this something that Olsens or some other store might have that does repairs. open for suggestions.

I would check EBay. Sometimes someone may be selling an old rusted junker or maybe some of the parts you want. Local train shows are a good source. Check under the tables some guy's will sell rusty junk parts for short money.
Great ideas Chris, I will start checking the few shows a year we have out here. I have been checking the bay, and will continue. Will let you know what I find

Good luck on the Standard gauge steamer shells. I saw two that would work for you but the guy wanted $200 a PIECE for them !! I don't have much in strandard but have some O things that would work.
