Hello Ives folks .. I had fun getting the 40 to run. Needed to rethink the oval on the layout, and turn it into a square. With a wind-up it's all about momentum and trying to remove friction. Ives was smart to correct their mistake creating a circle with six pieces of track and taking it up to 8 so you can do a 90-degree turn and then a straight they give the motor a little chance to build up a momentum before hitting the next curve. When I started this adventure the engine would not even make it around the loop keep adding oil and exercising that spring and oil every possible thing that's going to move on the train also adding oil to the inside of the outer rail on the curves helps cut down friction.
2nd style #40. made 1909-12 , 1 gauge .
