Hello all

JAD was one of the new manufacturers of standard gauge during the modern era standard gauge surge in the 1970's.
JAD a partnership of John Daniels , Art Varney , Jerry Brown and Dick Battaglia..produced the Hiawatha in the likeness of the Lionel O gauge model.
1974 -75 sales of the Hiawatha engine and tender were brisk 250 were sold . With the success of the engine the partners were convinced each new engine owner would want a set of cars to pull....car production ramped up but it is estimated that less than half would be completing their set.
JAD with huge supply of unsold cars painted some sets in two tone red in hopes of finding a market for Rail Chief fans in standard gauge ....few sold.
1980 Jerry Brown designs molds for the Union Pacific City of Portland M10000.... utilizing the same car bodies to absorb the surplus. Estimated 25 M10000 sets were sold .
