I would advise you to join now and avoid the registration delays when you arrive in York. You will get your York pass in the mail (assuming you pay the admission fee in advance), so when you arrive at the Fairgrounds you simply walk into any building you choose. Welcome!
Good question. I was wondering the same thing. I believe I will join and register for York tomorrow.
I strongly suggest joining now so that nothing diminishes your immediate enjoyment of York when you arrive.
Do it now. No reason not to.
I suggest that the gentlemen above are all correct. And welcome to you!
Ditto for all of the above. York is still almost two months away. Join TCA and register for York online and you'll have your membership and York Meet badge in plenty of time.
thanks everyone i will get my app in
With the elimination of the 2 signature rule what's the rush? It's not like they are going to be running out of "limited edition membership cards." Membership can now be an impulse thing. in fact I am beginning to seriously consider letting mine lapse ... particularly during those "bull market years" (such as Y10/2012).

Advance registration (before September 9) will save you money. Basic registration for a member is $12 before September 9; $20 after.
between A&B, i think you should let your membership lapse so there will be more trains for me.

May just do that Eddie. after all someone will have to be there to cart away all those Y2013 50% liquidations (particularly if one candidate wins the popular vote but the other gains the Electoral College majority.
Whats the backlog on applications?

Not sure what you are asking here.
I sent in an application and was wondering how long it takes to receive the card.
I sure you will get your membership in plenty of time before York. I doubt there is any backlog.
.
I hope so, one of the reasons I chose to join. I just started in O-Scale 3rail.
Register now. The line to register just to get into York is getting longer and longer every time, and that is not including the line to become a TCA member. They told me last York that the people who fill out all that stuff have a current list of all members, so even if you didn't get a card yet, you SHOULD still be able to get a pass for York once you are there.
It took quite a while to get my TCA card in the mail. Hope you guys get yours in time.

I sent an email to Membership Coordinator at The Train Collectors Association on the 29th of August. I received a prompt reply with my member number. I sent in a request for York tickets for my wife and I and received them yesterday in the mail. We are looking forward to going.

One hour drive from the fair grounds.
I would register ahead of time. A couple of years ago I didn't decide to go th the April York until the last minute so I didn't have my badge when I arrived.
I got on line to register, there were maybe 10 people ahead of me at most. I thought to myself "This isn't too bad, I thought the line would be longer" About an hour later i had my badge and started off. I couldn't believe it took an hour to register 10 people. From now on I will register for a badge ahead of time even if im not 100% sure i am going.
check was cashed, just waiting for membership info. will i also be able to register a guest in advance for the show? want to bring my dad.
The stuff the TCA sent me included a form for guests. I registered for York by mail and within about 4 days I had my badge.
