Hello,

The attached PDF has the current progress photos and As-Built Drawing of the Joliet & West Railway.

Status: All track snug fit, foam board and bridges complete, ready for wiring, then screw down.

J&W Current Statics:

Total Track: 697 Feet (excluding Helix)
West Main: 263 Feet
East Main:263 Feet
Yard: 79 Feet
USG: 59 Feet
Misc Sidings: 20 Feet

Helix Lead: 13 Feet

49 Switches

(Future Helix = will add 74 Feet).

When I starting wiring I will have some questions.

Thanks for looking

Looking good, Tim. I believe it is the largest layout I have seen with FasTrack - it should run trouble-free.

You said you just added another switch to make it 50 switches, but didn't tell us how many crossings. I counted four at 90°, plus four 30° perhaps? What is the %-grade on you graded tracks?

Thanks for sharing.

Alex,

Good question. It had me measuring to determine the final as-built grades.

The High-Line grades range from between 1.46% to 3.09%.

The attached drawing shows the grades limits in red for the High-Line.

Where ever there are crossovers or bridges on the High-Line the grade is 0% to avoid any construction or operational complications.

The 3% surprised me. It does not look that steep, but it swings around the fireplace foundation and its full grade view is block. Whereas the 2.22% grade looks noticeably steeper because you can see the full grade. But that is where I triple tracked the main line for passing slower moving trains to the summit.

Try counting the diamond crossings again you miss a few.

Thanks for looking and commenting.

Wiring begins this weekend.
