I reached out to JT's mega steam because I have several bottles that are probably 5 years old and wanted to know if they are still good.

I also suggested a new scent - "The Ocean" (any Seinfeld fans?) Maybe because I have always lived close to an ocean, but I think it would be a good seller. Anyway, here is his reply. Thanks Jeb!

Hi Paul,

Our shelf life is usually 3-5 years depending on how it is stored. Usually, the scent is the first signal...when it no longer has a scent it is showing age. Color is another indicator...if the fluid starts darkening, it is also showing age. Smoke fluid can still be used, but it is best at that point to purchase new fluid for the best results.
We have some "control" bottles that are 10 years old, but they were stored in optimum conditions: dark cabinet, cool temperature, etc. as heat and light tend to accelerate the aging process. We try to keep the price as low as possible so that customers can always purchase new fluid. Fresh is always the best due to the ingredients.

No Ocean scent as yet.

Thanks,
Jeb Kriigel

That’s my scent! :,)

Our grandson went to a train show with his father a while back. To my surprise, he came over with a gift. It was Mega Steam in the "campfire" scent. We put it into a couple of engines and of course, the women complained. "What are you burning down there?" They don't let us run with the smoke on very much.

We had to move the fluid to just use it outside. I guess it's too realistic!

BTW, any gallon jugs yet? He likes to run with the smoke on everything, all the time.
