Our special 10th Year Anniversary "Eliminator" is now on line for purchase at our web site.

See: www.megasteam.com.

Have a bad smelling smoke unit? The folks at JT's Mega-Steam are proud to announce an exciting new premium product that is a break through in smoke unit maintenance. They call it "Eliminator" and it is chemically engineered to eliminate bad smelling smoke units. Use it just like smoke fluid with 15-20 drops per filling.
Wait at least 30 minutes before turning on the smoke unit. You will get lots of smoke, but notice a light pleasant scent as the Eliminator works its magic If you have a difficult and really bad smelling unit, just add the Eliminator and let the engine sit overnight while the product soaks into the wicking. Then proceed as normal. Results are usually achieved after 3-4 filling cycles. Repeat as needed. Your smoke unit will be cleansed of the bad smelling things and ready to have some pleasant new smoke fluid added. Safe in all smoke units and fully compatible with the Mega-Steam line of smoke fluid, it is sure to please those who are bothered by a bad smelling locomotive.

Not at all. The product's main purpose is to eliminate any bad smelling smoke units.

In all units tested, however, where a noisy fan existed, "Eliminator" quieted the squeeky fan down after just a couple filling cycles. This is a secondary benefit of using "Eliminator" due to the special chemical properties and viscosity of the product. We concluded that a very tiny mist vapor of oil exists within the smoke unit and due to just the right viscosity (thickness) of "Eliminator" it works. Please note that it may not work to quiet noisy fans in all situations due to many variables and conditions, but in our own testing of over 12 locomotives, it did not fail to quiet the noisy units. Again, the main goal was to come up with a cleanse or purge of bad smelling smoke units and we are confident that we accomplished that goal.

Thanks for the question,

Mega-Steam R/D Team

I'm sure the quieting effect on the fan would be dependent on what is making it noisy.  For instance, I had one that the fan was just clipping the gasket that has swelled and making a noise, I doubt Eliminator would fix that.  Fortunately, a little surgery did the trick.

I've oiled the bearings on many smoke fans and that's very effective.  As posted above, I'm guessing they're getting the same effect as a byproduct of using Eliminator.  Next time I have a noisy one, I'm going to test that premise, easier than pulling the smoke unit and fixing it.

IMO, it works great, that's what it does. Way to go.

I just ordered a bottle of 'eliminator'...along with some coal fire, orange, and some forest & stream.  Have only run the nada so far.  Anyone know if scents like the original cedar are 'natural' derivatives?  I love the smell of cedar, but it can wreak havoc with my allergies, so I avoided it for now.  Looking forward to trying some new scents.  Thanks Mega-Steam!

try "Grandpas Pipe" !!!

here is a quick review.  i got eliminator because of the possibility of silencing some noisy smoke fans.  i have the MILW F7 powered A powered B unpowered A from the 2012 catalog.  had trouble with these units right out of the box (they ran terribly in reverse and  two units had smoke issues).  off to Ohio.  back from Ohio.  none of the smoke units worked.  i kept a can of compressed air to do blow downs.  some times i would get a puff of smoke, mostly not. back to Ohio. returned from Ohio.  the smoke units would work off and on and were noisy.

was not going to send to to ohio again.

i am a NADA user and a big fan of it.  it got me back into running smoke.

the Eliminator arrived today.  decided to start the process (2-3 applications for results).

immediate and huge improvement in smoke performance.  no coaxing with blowdowns.  no prayers.  just wham, big smoke.  i guess these particular smoke units like that viscosity difference.  i think (think!) the fans began to quiet down before the end of the run.

whoopee!

OK, next report. I just applied the third "dose" of eliminator. Smoke production continues at a very satisfactory level; orders of magnitude better than it was.  Noise has been reduced by 90%. In fact, fan noise is undetectable when the train is moving. At rest it can be heard, but it usually ceases as soon as I throttle up.

i may stay with eliminator on these units as the scent is very faintand gives me no problems.

Talk about a stink. I tried the smoke pellet version in my M1a. What a stink. I had to replace the wicking to get rid of the offensive odor.

OK, last report.  nearly done with third dose of ellminator.

smoke output remains beyond anything these units have produced before.  fan noise on the B and unpowered A have been eliminated.  fan noise on the powered A is reduced, but still shows up intermittently.

overall, i am well satisfied.

i will continue to use it in these three units and may try it in another just to see if i get improved smoke performance.

i just ordered a bottle also as i have a few steamers that dont smell right, regardless of which brand of smoke fluid i use.

i cant wait to try this new eliminator product.regarding the smoke pellet scent... that is one of my favorite scents.im using that scent in about a half dozen of my steamers.

a big thank you to mega-steam for putting out quality products at a reasonable price.

terry......

Another satisfied customer  I'm thrilled with the Orange and Forest & Stream scents as I've only run nada up till now.  I'm using the Orange in a Williams seuth unit and the volume of smoke and the scent are great.

I ran 3 fills of Eliminator in my SD70 and it really cleansed the acrid smell I was getting from that smoke unit.  Each fill of Eliminator it got better, even when it starts to run low on fluid and is time for a fill (that was when I seemed to notice the acrid smell the most).

I have'nt really been able to hear the fan unit on this engine until the last second or two of the 'shut down' sequence.  It never seemed too loud, but after the third fill it did seem to have a smoother hum.  I tried out the Forest & Stream after the 3rd fill and it's a really nice scent (so is the eliminator btw).  I thought I caught a fleeting hint of that acrid smell about the time it was ready for a refill...so I'll do a 4th fill of the eliminator just for good measure.

Great products JT's!

Robert
