I am retired and have no idea what I am doing. More mistakes to come. But I am having a lot of fun and spending more money than I thought possible.

Looks good!
The lower rail is my new MTH 611 and I love it. The top rail is a 30 plus year old trolley running on an old transformer.
I'd be happy with it!
Looks like you are having fun. Enjoy retirement.
Let's see...you've got a beautiful train room, a nice start to a layout with scenery in progress, no derailments and a you're good videographer to boot.
If the money holds out, I'd say you will do quite well. Enjoy!

William, That is a nice track plan, it will keep your interest. You may consider painting the surface of the table before you take too many more steps. The color doesn't matter, but you don't want to place accessories and buildings on your layout and have a little bit of wood showing. Respectfully, John in Lansing, ILL
WILIAMJ, the video shows the start to a great layout. ...........Paul 2
I have a small 5x8 layout, but it took me 2 years to finish the scenery. Along the way I started collecting "quality" 1:43 cars. Great hobby!
Thank you so much for the kind words from everyone. I know it is hard to tell from my video, but the top is 2 inch foam painted brown. I found it easier to work with, and a lot lighter than wood to bring home and carry down to the basement.
Can’t think of a better way to spend your retirement time and $$$.
Good for you. Enjoy your trains and your retirement.

Quite a start!
It'll do until something better comes along. If it ever does!
Great start... Just a suggestion, if you rotate your phone 90 degrees (Landscape) your video's will look much better.
Have Fun!

Your track plan is interesting. Your N&W J runs smoothly over it. Other trains probably will too. The only thing I would add is a town scene in the area close to the camera. Some trees and buildings add some verticality to the scene.
