My CC company sends me a text when my CC is used. Just got the text for the renewal of the Premium Membership listed as FeePod. Looking forward to another year of exclusive content!

Thanks for another great year!

Thanks Marty for reminding us all about this happening because my card was denied for the same reason Spence s card was. Thanks Home Depot. So I had to add the new #.  So Dose that change the new date that I will renew the upgrade next year to the 2nd of November? I did check and I wasn't a premium member today.

So Rich Maybe you can let me know Dose this change the day that I will be billed next year?  Thanks  Scot

I'll be in for another year especially where I'm going all paperless with all my subscriptions.  I could use the excuse that I'm trying to be a good "Green" person for the the environment bla, bla, bla! But truth be told I've been buried in subscriptions and catalogs I have to lug out and recycle anyway so now I keep everything on my tablet in one place where I can always find it.

Thanks for info/help to update.  I too had to update since I was on so many lists of hacks at Home Depot, Target, and the like.  Then I get this notice from a healthcare related business that their system was compromised and I went through the roof.  Identity theft is a nasty business.  I signed up for the free protection service, but somehow I still don't feel so secure.

Anyways, my card info is updated, and I am looking forward to the wonderful diversion and distraction from reality that I find in the wonderful world of OGR, this wonderful hobby, and my small world of trains.

If you use a Bank of America credit card and manage your account online, there is a feature called ShopSafe that lets you generate a custom credit card number. You specify for how long it is valid (I think its from 2 to 12 months), and the amount. It generates a card number with date and even those three digits on the back, forgot what it is called.

In my experience you need to keep a record of to whom and when you give the number to. For now I just do a screen shot, save it to my hard drive, use a graphics editor and put who I was intending it goes to on the picture, save it again, then import it into Google Drive (so that I can see from work or home). There is probably a better way.

Other credit card companies might have ShopSafe too, and of course there could be competitors to ShopSafe. It can be hard to find it on the BofA website.

I got caught up in the HD thing too. Somebody tried to buy some small computer item in the UK with a regular CC# of mine.

Something that happens once a year like sub renewal is not a great candidate for this.

ShopSafe sounds just like the Virtual Account Number feature from Citi Bank on their credit cards.

Other than Amazon, I only use virtual account numbers for all online purchases.  I won't knowingly leave a CC number "On-Line" for any reason.  I delete the Amazon CC info from my Amazon account as soon as I know the order has been processed.  This can be immediately after the order is entered unless paying with "points" accumulated on the Amazon CC.

Just my $.02  YMMV.
