Anyone have experience with Woodland Scenics LED STICK ON LIGHTS. I purchased 2 tubes of JP5741, a total of 4 lights. This is the bummer 3 of the 4 did not work from the get go, a contact with the vendor and 4 more lights were received, no problem with the vendor, will buy from them again.

The one light that did work, doesn't anymore, so I have 8 Stick on Lights that don't work. The original purchase included:

LED Stick on LED lights               JP 5741  2 tubes  (4 lights)   <replaced by vendor>

Expansion Hub                           JP  5702

Extension Cable                        JP 5761  2 tubes (4 cables)= Worked great when connecting the W/S Buildings to                                                                                                    both  Hub and Expansion Hub,

Lights/Hub Set Warm White   JP 5700
Power Supply                            JP 5770
All directions were followed.

I decided to buy the "JUST PLUG" system because it looked to be Brent proof but it looks like I was wrong.

E Mailed  Woodland Scenics , should hear from them Monday or Tuesday.

All comments are appreciated,

Brent

I have not used them myself, but my LHS has a display of them set up and they look really nice to me. It's really a pretty neat system, dimmers and everything, IMO. Looks like they really put some thought into the system.

My LHS's display worked quite well, I was fiddling with it a month or so ago and the owner gave me a demo. They had a couple of different types of lights, but I will have to look again to be sure what all they had hooked up...can't remember without looking again.

Too bad you are having problems, maybe WS can advise you when you hear from them next week.

I have the Just Plug system for the town portion of my railroad and so far it works fine.  I have several stick on LEDs in buildings, 2 gooseneck lights, 8 street lights and 2 Woodland Scenic pre-lit buildings.  All are powered with the Just Plug power supply.  So far, all are working fine, but it is all new within the last two weeks.  I do have a light on one of the buildings that likes to occasionally flicker.  Mine are set up with power to the expansion hub, then extension cables to power three separate hubs.  All hubs have their dials turned up to high to give plenty of brightness.

Brent, I just got done putting this system in an MTH corner building.

I used the flat lights that came in Kit Number BA5790,5791

The control board that is in these kits was released before the newer style Expansion Hub and Light Hub.

This style of control board is just a small circuit board with connections and pots for dimming individual lights.

So far so good !!!!!

I have plans for my other MTH buildings using the Woodland Scenics lighting system. I think it is a great way to light up a building and have different light shades in different windows or levels.

Hope it works out for you !!!!!

So far very good with JustPlug.  I very recently had 2 of 3 lights bad out of the box in a single building; they flickered badly and were dead within a week.  Woodland Scenics quickly sent me 3 replacements, no questions asked.  I was told that some of the stick-on lights (which they also use in B&R structures) had problems, and they redesigned them.  These replacements have been fine.

All of my other stick-on lights have been fine too.  I've added them with great results to the loading docks of my MTH feed store and MTH brewery.  I will be adding some to my J Frank's IGA market, so I can have brighter lights in the day when the store is open, and dimmer lights at night when it's closed.  I can't wait to get my scenery far enough along to install the JP street lights I have on hand.

You want "wow", try their porch lights.  Oh so tiny, but they give off a lot of light and really make the front porches of your houses pop.

I have roughly 40 buildings lit up with Just Plug lights and hubs and have had only 1 light fail.  I also have gotten some knock off lights for half the price on the bay that all wotk, too. Hobby Lobby carries Just Plug and you can use a 40% off coupon on 1 item each time you buy. I varied the color of the lights for some buildings from warm white for most, yellow in a pool hall, green in an Irish pub, and red in a church that makes it look like it has stained glass. Company that sells knock offs has a 3 light stick on that I've used to spotlight the church and under some elevated track with a road beneath it. Just Plug are pretty convenient and I like that they don't burn hot, easy to hide wiring, and energy efficient. Always feel better when I buy them with the coupon.

Since mentioning some bad luck with Woodland Scenics, Comments about the results should be reported.

WOODLAND SCENICS REPLACED ALL THE LIGHTS, CHECKED THE REPLACEMENTS AND SENT A DIAGRAM OF EXACTLY HOW TO INSTALL THE EQUIPMENT. INSTRUCTIONS ARE BEING FOLLOWED, SO FAR SO GOOD.

THANK YOU WOODLAND SCENICS..

Contacted the vendor about paying for the lights they replaced at no charge, their comment was forget it glad things worked out and to remember them when more items were needed.

Breece and guys,

Nice thread, and thanks for the info.  I have been thinking about using this system to add some effects to an already well-lit layout.  Your comments have made up my mind that the lights will work as advertised.  Also, good job by WS in taking care of things.  Now, all I gotta do is figure out where they will go, haha.
