I have two K-line steam engines with air whistle tenders. Both have a four pin socket under the cab floor. I can find no info on their purpose. I've removed the boiler from one and on the reversing board there seems to be a sound chip connected to the afore mentioned socket. Can anyone enlighten me?

Budd man, what are the product numbers?  Are these the Marx styled train set Pacifics or the "semi scale" ones?  Where did you get them?

Some of the newer train set locos came with an electronic chugging sound.  Maybe the prior owner mixed and matched locos & tenders?  Also K-Line used its own special whistle controller.  If I recall, the whistle in the early train set locos could not be actuated by a postwar Lionel whistle transformer.

More info and/or pictures, please!
