K-line 4-6-6T tank Engine stall settings

If you have the K-Line cruise, it has different keystrokes to configure it.  I've attached a PDF of various clips about the K-Line specific equipment.

 

From the attached file, here's the speed control setting instructions.

 

Cab-1: DIR, BELL, AUX1, then either 1, 2 or 3. Each button should be held for one full second. This sets the number of steps between stopped and full speed. Press the BELL button again to turn off the bell.

Setting Speed Steps:
32 Steps: DIR, BELL, AUX1, 1 (factory setting)
128 Steps: DIR, BELL, AUX1, 2
256 Steps: DIR, BELL, AUX1, 3

 

Hi John, I read your guide. It still does not indicate how to set High Voltage Max Speed. Usually set by "Set, Boost". But it does seem that the "Stall Speed" is set by a different set of commands. And I am not sure why the " correct" reset is 78. I have read that before but never could understand the rationale. 74 is the code in the manual. If 7 is for cruise, the 4 is the Lionel code for steam smoke. 8 is the code for diesel smoke. Why would 78 be the correct code for the tank engine and not 74? Fred

You got me Fred, I don't currently have a steamer with K-Line cruise, my tank engine has an ERR Cruise Commander replacing the K-Line cruise.  My other K-Line cruise equipped locomotives are all diesels.

 

The 7 sets serial data in conventional mode. Without programming using the 7 the engine will not run in conventional.

Hi Bill, If that is correct than it would indicate that those "corrected" reset instructions are totally incorrect and misleading. What is you opinion? The speed step instructions are correct and are right from the K-Line Manual. But manual says to use 74 as the Reset for the K-line steam. Not the 78.

I would use 74, if that works fine if not program with 78
