Hi, I have heard that this engine doesn't run well, if at all. There seems to be a problem with the drive shaft. Any word on this?

I have a K-Line EP-5 with TMCC, no drive shaft in mine and it runs fine.
I've owned a conventional KCC model since they came out and it continues to run like a top. iirc, there was an issue with some of the truck detail clipping turnout lights(?) but other than that, I've never heard any complaints about that engine...

The only problem is with the detailed trucks.... the third rail outside pick up sometimes catches on switches. A small screwdriver can remove it.
Perhaps you were thinking of the early Weaver RS-3's. I wouldn't call them terrible by any means, but they're not the same as modern units.
I've had no problem with the K-Line EP-5 on either 022 or Fastrack switches. Never did a thing to it.
Thank you all for your input.
I agree with the others - I have the New Haven version, and no problems. You must have this confused with some other engine. My engine was equipped with cruise control, and the only thing that needed improvement was changing out the K-Line cruise control for an ERR replacement. It's a great looking engine, by the way.
