Just curious as I am not familiar with K-Line.

I have a Milwaukee A-B-A and a A-A set. All powered. Like them very much. Mars light, smoke all the bells and whistles. Never had a problem. Don
Thanks!
I have the NYC set from that year. Great engines. AAs are both powered and you have many alternatives for the pilot including scale couplers and no coupler with cover plate installed. Check to make sure the one you are considering has all of the pilot options.

It is the 25702.
Another question to ask is, does it have the 4 pin or 10 pin tether. The pins on the 10 pin tether are beyond FRAGILE. If you have a permanent layout and will NOT be removing the locomotives from the track, probably not a problem, just be Extremely Careful when plugging together or unplugging the tethers.

I think they have four pins but not sure. Here's a picture of one of mine. They come with three different pilots. Don

Those are good engines. Very simple to work on.
The 2004 engines are the ones that have smoke, etc. so I expect they would have the 10-pin tethers. My Midnight Chief set is packed away right now so I'm not 100% sure but I think the older sets had the 4-pin and the 2004-2005 with extra features had the 10-pin. I have not had any trouble with the tethers on my Midnight Chief. I like that the tethers are hidden in the diaphragms rather than down on the coupler mounts like MTH.
I'm quite pleased with my K-Line set. It's got excellent graphics, good detail and is a smooth runner.
Look at the Lionel F units from the 2004-05 era. They have scale detail with RS4and some from 2005 have RS5. The best thing is they were ABA and do not have any tethers.
