I bought a K-line GG1 with Tmcc & RS. NOS. Worked fine at first, then I lost TMCC control, took off at full speed, still had conventional control, lost that. All that is left are the lights,it won't move. These problems took place within about ten minutes. Nice looking engine. Any ideas of what might be wrong or how to at least get it moving again?? I rounded up the usual suspects, reset & reprogram, checked for loose boards or wires, with no success. Thanks, Fred       It doesn't look promising.

Is this a recent K-Line GG-1?

I had an older K-Line GG-1 that was supposed to be TMCC ready, bought it from K-Line as a K-Line collector club item. The truck assemblies fell off of the powered wheelsets.

If it is TMCC equipped it may have DC can motors inside so you could see if you could wire it up to use with a 6 amp bridge rectifier from radio Shack. The bridge rectifier should be near $6.00. Temporary wire in the rectifier to the motors, if the motors work then the circuit board could be bad.

Bill, After reading your response I went to do the reprogram sequence again to determine whether the light flashed or horn blew.  Much to my surprise the railsounds started and it responded to the throttle a bit, but shut down after moving a fraction of an inch. It did this a few times more, then I pushed it , it started moving and I just finished running it for a half hour or so. It seems fine.  I'm puzzled to as why it now is accepting the reprogram, but I am very happy that it seems to work very well now .

Many thanks to Rod, Lee, and Bill for your help. Electronic workings are a great mystery and this engine reinforces that mystery to me. Fred
