Before proceeding, please read the topic "K-Line Heavyweight LED Striplighting Conversion - General".

First and foremost, fix the four large side doors in place using tape, so that they won't fall inward and out during the LED strip installation.

It's not necessary to light up the storage (front) end of the car.  A 5-LED-triplet strip (length approximately 10") is appropriate, illuminating the working areas of the car well.  Here's the strip mounted in the carbody ceiling (the regulator orientation is correct in this car).  (Note that the side doors are missing, which is how I discovered the need to tape them in place!)

Note the dollops of hot glue holding the wires to the carbody ceiling.  After this picture was taken dollops were also placed along the LED strip to ensure its security, should the adhesive backing of the strip fail.

Because this car uses two less LED triplets than do the other cars, the pot on its regulator card should be adjusted so that the track current draw is 25 mA.

When reassembling the car, ensure that the clear plastic squares mounted to the back side of the four large side doors are seated within the cutouts in the car's base plate.  This is necessary to ensure that the base plate is flat against the posts it attaches to, with no bending, and proper working of the doors.

Lastly, remove the tape and check side door operation after completing reassembly.  If the doors don't operate properly, the floor plate will need to be loosened and the doors adjusted.
