I have several older style (high profile) K-Line O42 tubular track remote control switches on my layout, and nearly all of them (except for one) work like they should with 14v applied to them (separate from track power).

However, one switch and its matching switch controller will work, but the switch controller lever motion is "backwards;"  i.e. when viewed from the end where the wire leaves the switch controller, the lever should pull TOWARD me to change the switch swivel rail to CURVE (showing red), and push it AWAY from me to change the switch swivel rail to STRAIGHT (showing green). But the lever motion is "backwards."

Admittedly, not a huge problem.  I switched around the wires to other combinations at the switch terminals by a trial and error method.  With the current connections, its performance features are OK:
* the red light on the switch controller echoes the red light on the switch when the swivel rail is set to CURVE
* the green light on the switch controller echoes the green light on the switch when the swivel rail is set to STRAIGHT.

Should I accept the "backward" contrariness of the switch lever, although it is different from all the others on the layout? Or is there some electrical  gremlin at work? Suggestions welcome ...

-Remove the controller bulbs.
-Wire the controller cables to the switch per this diagram.
-Swap the red & green wires if needed to get the desired lever action.
-Install the red bulb into the socket that illuminates when the red bulb on the switch motor is illuminated.
Install the green bulb in the other socket.

I thought K-line had specific left and right control modules.

I'm thinking you have a mismatch? That explains the "why".

They should have a "L" or "R" on the controller.

My K-Line O42 LH RC switch is the older style, so I believe it does not require the "correct handedness" you mentioned. I know that the newer style (low profile) K-Line O42 LH RC switch does require the correct handedness as labeled on the underside of the switch controller.

As an experiment, I'll swap out the existing controller for the "new style controller" and see what happens.

With appreciation for the tip,
