If it is an aluminum car...

When you get the new rollers (pickups) be sure to use some superflex wire and make a jumper from the arm to the base.

The problem is that the pivot pin is made of aluminum. Aluminum oxidizes easily and becomes an insulator. That forces the current to the bulbs to go through the spring. That overheats the spring and it loses tension.

Bypassing the pivot pin with superflex wire eliminates the problem.

This fix was one of the best fixes that Jim Barrett illustrated in the magazine.
