Just curious about how many of the K-Line Hudsons were numbered 5343?  Seems I've run across more of them than the 5344 model recently - in photos, for sale, etc.

Any idea how many of each K-Line produced or perhaps a ratio between them?

We had both for a brief period of time awhile back pictured here. The second 5344 (on left) is a first issue MTH model from 1996 which is surprisingly well-detailed even compared to the K-Line.

Since you're just musing, I'll chime in:

Per the "for sale" cab numbers, I imagine that the 5344 number is regarded as a bit

more meaningful and keep-able in light of the Mother of All Hudsons, the pre-war Lionel that was numbered 5344. Just spitballing, though. Amusing how significant a tiny bit of

decal, paint or ink can be to a "fan" (from "fanatic", of course), is it not?

Funny to think of the NYC Hudson as "female", also...I typically call machines - even ships - "it". They are not alive, after all.

I have a friend who wants to sell me his pre-war Lionel 700E for $1500. What? No Command Control? I do want it, though. Funny.
