Good Evening, I am new to the forum and I was wondering if anyone could offer some help or advise for two issues that I am having with a K-line Semi-Scale Southern Pacific 4-6-2.  I believe it was from around 2000 or 2001.

1.)  The sound was getting kind of rough, so I replaced the battery (after 11/12 years).  Now it sounds terrible, the bell stays on and has loud static in it (both in Signal Sounds and Railsounds).  This is the SP pacific with the vanderbilt tender and the battery was kind of hard to get to.  I am wondering if I might have messed it up.

2.)  The smoke unit sounds squeeky as it is running.  Smoke does come out of it.  Is there a way to clean/oil that to prevent that noise?

This has been a great little locomotive over the years.  I know its getting a little old.  Any help any of you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

You can likley find out all you need to know about O gauge here.

The sound problem may be a bad connection somewhere or a shot speaker.

I would check all connections and reseat the boards in the tender carefully.

If you have a spare 8 ohm speaker I would try it. The size does not really matter as far a testing is concerned.

If you need a new speaker you could get one from Radio Shack. They used to sell a generic 2" 8 ohm speaker; maybe they still do.

Maybe try an engine reset also. The procedure should be in your manual.
