K line smoking caboose (no switch to run in conventional)

I recently picked up K612-2171 (Kline).  The caboose instructions claim that you can simply flip a switch to run it in conventional to ensure it smokes. With my luck, there is no switch so I assume there is a method to program this caboose to the cab-2 to get it smoking? My father bought me one 10 years ago, and it just recently burned a hole through the caboose. I went down to Western Depot today to pick up another, and haven’t been able to see the smoke in action.   You gentlemen are a tremendous help to my o scale layout! Help me program this caboose to my legacy system!
