I just purchased this engine, and it came with the rear dummy coupler off the truck
is there a trick to putting this back together?

Well you are going to have to remove the shell, then remove the truck from the frame so you can access the top side of it, then press in the lower stamped cover plate holding the knuckle and spring and re-bend the little tabs to hold it in.

While this picture I found was not the exact truck, the coupler mounting is the same

Again, the stamped lower bracket pokes up through the top plate, and then the little tabs get bend to hold in place.
I think it would be relatively hard to do this in place with the truck installed- YMMV.
