Good Day Model Railroaders,

Remember here is your chance to purchase one of the most striking colors presented on the Trinity 5161 Hoppers! These KCS Hoppers would make a fantastic 21st Century Grain Train. If there is sufficient demand Bob will run 8 road #’s on our Special Run Kansas City Southern hopper.

Contact Bob at AMHobbies and order now! http://www.amhobbiesonline.com/

KCS, what a nice color scheme.
In another failed attempt on my part to limit roadnames, I bought a new Williams KCS SD90. These latest models from Williams have upgraded detail like windscreen wipers and very finely detailed signage. What a gorgeous looking livery, probably my favorite, and I love hoppers, so some for me as well .

The paint scheme was done by EMD, which designed and suggested the liveries of many of America's railroads who bought their engines. EMD had some very talented graphic designers in their service back in the day.

The KCS must be doing OK financially, at least based on their paint scheme. It's complicated, and must be very expensive. Going from the rather plain older scheme to this "new" (yet traditional) one, has got to be costing some major bucks.

There's certainly lots of historical precedent for railroads doing the opposite, that is, simplifying paint schemes due to cost. One of the best known, of course, was the SP, going from Daylight and Black Widow, to the Bloody Nose.

Of particular note are the red dividing paint lines KCS uses between the colors. One of the things the Great Northern did at the later stages of using their green and orange scheme, was to eliminate the yellow dividing lines between the green and orange, due to cost.
I have the Lionel 3pack of the ACF 3-bay Aluminum set and they are really nice. I got Bob's email at first was going to pass, but after seeing them reconsidering placing an order. I agree the price is a little steep, but will ensure that I truly only buy what I really want. I have the 4 car NS on order, so might make it an additional 4 of this set.

Thanks for posting the pics.
KCS buisnees train through the Rockies photos

I really like the colors of the KCS.
Here are some shots from a local railfan that drove up to Rockies to shoot these cars headed west to the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.
Same stunning paint scheme, the Black looks great on the white of the snow.
KCS cars were parked for CP rail for the duration of the Olympics downtown with other CP buisness cars and invited guests stayed on these. CP was a sponsor of the Olympics.
Good Day,

Just a reminder, now is the time to order your KCS Grain Train!
