Back in the 1980's, I purchased a mint Japanese electric engine from a train show in Wayne, NJ. I knew nothing about it and it sat on a shelve for the past 30 years. Surfing the net, I came across the Yahoo Sakai site and found a picture of it but no information on KTM. The engine is still in mint condition, light green/dark green, center rail pick-up with brass wheels and a lever on the side (directional ??)but it does not run. What power source does this engine require and any information on KTM would be welcomed,

I don't have one....but have you been inside?? If there is a DC can type motor and no electronics then it would be DC powered.  If it's really old and has some type of mechanical direction control there may be an issue there. I'd open it up and jump the motor directly to a 12 volt DC power supply and see if it runs. If it trys to turn but doesn't check out gearing. As stated...pics help.
