ALL are NICE, but I only have the Stroh's reefer, and it is my favorite!
My local Train store has some new in the box for $9.99. I picked up 12 of them in various road names to make a pretty nice train. Jon
Lionel calls it "Standard O"
Way too many made to mention that I could recollect. While "Standard O" started during the MPC/Fundemensions era, it continues on to this day, both with original and new tooling.
I had them all at one time and they were very nice. Lionel used the Pola molds that they bought in the early 70's.
The he only problem Lionel did was that there were no near scale locos to run these cars with. So they did not sell well.
The original issue of Standard O cars in the 1970's was 15 different cars.
In 1984, more were issued and the line started growing after that.

Sure there were. The GP7/9 matches perfectly with them for a start, as does the FM Train master and the SD40, all of which did see release during the MPC/Fundemensions era. Similarly, their U36-Bs and SD-24s, also released during the MPC/Fundemensions era, while short of full scale length, were pretty much scale in size & width so the Standard O cars looked appropriate behind them as well.
The complete roster of these first Standard O cars was (as far as I can tell):
9801 B&O Sentinel
9802 Miller Beer
9803 Johnson wax
9805 GTW Reefer
9806 Rock Island Boxcar
9807 Stroh's Beer
9808 Union Pacific Boxcar
9809 Clark Bar Reefer
9811 PFE Reefer
9815 NYC Early Bird Reefer
9820 Wabash Gondola
9821 SP Gondola
9822 GTW Gondola
9823 SF Flatcar
9824 NYC Gondola
9825 Schaefer Reefer
9826 P&LE Boxcar
These were all made between 1973 and 1977.
When I first heard that Lionel was going to reissue the first scale Hudson since the postwar days in 1984, I stocked up on these Standard O cars so that I would have (somewhat) scale cars to go with the scale Hudson (8406).
Also, these Standard O cars were the first cars ever issued by Lionel with die cast sprung trucks!
