I have found that although all of the curves on my layout are 031 or larger, the few 0-27 engines I have run the best on my layout.

Anybody know of any large (or the largest) Lionel,  Williams, Bachman or MTH steamer in 0-27, with can motor(s) and conventional operation?   Just a horn and bell is fine.

Sorry to ask in this manner,  but I couldn't figure out how to search it.

Thanks,

For the price and simplicity, it's hard to beat the Williams/WBB 4-6-0 Ten Wheeler. It's a great runner without the jack rabbit starts. The tender looks a little big relative to the engine, but for the price, who cares, and it's rated for O27. Marios has these in sets with passenger or freight for $280. TrainWorld is selling the engines for $150 - $200 depending on road name. No frills like sound.

The Williams/WBB 4-6-4 O27 Hudson looks good, too. It's probably among the largest O27 engines much like the PW 2046/2056.  The Lionel Baby K4 in Pennsy looks good and is also larger than the Wms/WBB 4-6-0 but is still fine with O27.

Hope that helps. I'm sure there are others.

Thanks for all of this excellent info guys.

RaisingDaughters, I just got the WBB 4-6-0 C&O three weeks ago from Trainworld.  It really runs great, yet I was a little disappointed that the engine will not run unless the tender is plugged in and attached to it.  Still, for the price, and the very colorful paint job, I think it was a great buy for me at $199.        The other rail names of the WBB 4-6-0s were a great buy at $149.  Yet, the color schemes for those (PRR and NYC), were all grey or all black.   I'm glad I paid the extra $50 for the nicer C&O paint job.

I will definitely go forth now and check out all of the other locos you guys have recommended.
