This tired old Lionel 2555 tank car from 1946-48 was acquired as part of an auction lot. I probably have as much money in it as it's worth, but I enjoy giving old hulks a second life.

Nice job. Good rescue!
Looks great! Did you clear coat the decals? My 2755 the decals have yellowed and chipped off.
Nice job on that there tank car!
Nice restoration!
Very nice!
Excellent! An inspiration.
Thank you all for the kind comments - They are much appreciated.
Franktrain, I did not clear coat because I've seen clear coat products say "not to be used over metallic paints". I figure the car will get kid glove handling from now on, anyway. The original decals on my car were definitely yellowed, but they were the toughest thing to sand off - definitely not chipping off by themselves!
Wow! Very nice.

Nice. A man after my own heart.
You sure brought this back to life, nice job!!!!
great save, nothing better than bringing them back to life.
Wow! Fantastic.
Thank you, all. It's interesting how the plastic top looks slightly different in color from the metal tank itself. Both were primed with the same primer and painted with the same silver.
Looks awesome .
