I started this some time ago ( bought the cars a and the 384 a few years ago) but never go around to it until I retired.  I always thought the Gray 384 would look perfect with some 300 series UP passenger cars so here they are.

UP Baggage

UP Coach

UP Observation

THe train was too short so I redid an 89 Christmas car that I also picked up years ago.

UP Express Freight

As I mentioned a Gray 384 is the perfect locomotive to pull this.

UP Gray 384

UP Gray 384 1

I also had a Lionel 93 water tower from a junk box I bought so that got UP colors as well

That is beautiful work. I assume the text is decals - did you make those or was there a set somewhere that just happened to fit where the number plates were?

The text is a decal  made from a word file I created. It was printed on an Inkjet printer and sealed with rustoleum clearcoat. the file is attached feel free to use it.

Hello Pete,

Beautiful work - simply beautiful!!!!!

I downloaded the file and when I open it, some of the characters are very close to one another and in some cases there isn't a space between the words or it is truncated.

How should the file look like?

Could you please take a screen shot of it so that I can see what you initially intended it to be?

Thanks!

Thank you Pete!

I resized the new file to look like what your posted.

It comes closest when I select a font size of 11.

Was this your intention?

The file opens with a font size of 20.

I downloaded a font that is very similar to what UP uses and sized it to 20 point as I used it on Standard Gauge 300 series passenger cars. You could resize it if you were using it on O gauge.  I chose a font size of 20 because it looked good but not because it was a particular scale. I end up making decals when I can't find what I want and have some other files mostly New England roads if anyone is interested.

Last run of this years Christmas train.  See the video below As the season progressed I kept making more cars to add to this making it a mixed freight/ passenger train. The final train ended up with 3 passenger cars and a boxcar, a tank car, a gondola, a ballast car and a caboose. I've never done anything UP before and making these was a lot of fun.

Oh, Pete, I know you have it all set up already, but that train has "under the Christmas tree" written all over it.  I just got back from the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, and I got all fired up for tinplate reproductions (MTH) under the tree.  Then I saw the prices...  sigh!
