Wow! Fabulous shots and modeling! Congrats and thanks!
WHOAAAA!!!! Great layout and the composition of the photos really bring it to life. The inside of the engine house with the crane and snow plow is fantastic!
Is you turntable the Atlas version? The weathering and painting of the base really makes a huge difference.
Clifford - Very nice layout! Great scenery and attention to details. I love the statue!

I AM HUMBLED BY YOUR GRACIOUS ENCOURAGEMENT! YES THAT IS A HEAVILY MODIFIED/ KITBASH ATLAS TABLE. THE ROTATING STONE SURFACE OF THE FACTORY MODEL DID NOT APPEAL TO ME. SOME REAL RAILROADS HAD BRIDGE DECKS JUST LIKE THIS, THATS A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION ! THANKS AGAIN, CLIFFORD
Excellent detail. I had to pause at each photo to take in all that was going on in each scene. The engine house interior is great. Keep up the good work.

Very nice work, Clifford! Let's see what we can do about sharing your creation with our magazine readers. Send me an e-mail and I'll provide details regarding what is needed.
Great photos & a fantastic looking layout.
Wow! Another beautiful layout. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more pictures or maybe a video in the future.
I like the way you think about details in every spot, not crowding any one scene. I also like the way you include very interesting ideas (curved bridges, etc) that convey prototypical scenes from that area and time. The details are well thought out! Good job!
Beautiful layout. I love the way everything is weathered, buildings, roads, vehicles etc.
Can you share with us the material you used to create the "dirt" road in picture #8, I have an area that needs that "look".
Thank You.
Beautiful layout. You scenes are terrific.
WOW! I would say more, but too many words come to mind.

Great Pics Clifford. What materials did you use for your various graded crossings and do you have a preference for one in particular?
Thanks.
SANTA FE!! I use very fine sand (beach sand) and you could use desert sand sifted very fine and then applied and shaped and then water-glued in place. You can get different, fine sized and colored sand at the aquarium section of a pet store to use for different shades of color in your roads.
Beautiful layout Clifford. Thanks for posting the photos for all of us to enjoy.
Clifford, all I can say is "Super Job". Layout and its details look great. What you did to the Atlas turntable is pure thinking outside the box. Thank you for posting.

Beautiful layout and details, Clifford!
Can hardly wait for the higher resolution/quality pictures you promised - your excellent layout deserves it!
Thank you for sharing -

Thank You. HI GUYS,THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST! THE DIRT ROAD IS SO EASY. I USE 1/8 " MASONITE FOR ALL ROADS, SIDEWALKS, AND MOST GRADED CROSSINGS. FIRST LAY-OUT THE ROAD TO FIT YOUR TASTES, I USE DRYWALL COMPOUND TO FORM A BERM BETWEEN ROAD HEIGHT AND SCENERY. THEN I PAINT THE ROAD SURFACE WITH EARTH TONE PAINT (BROWN OR TAN). LET IT DRY THOROUGHLY! COVER THE ENTIRE ROADWAY WITH ELMERS GLUE, BRUSH IT ON HEAVY, BUT SMOOTH. SPRINKLE #EX889B SCENIC EXPRESS EARTH BLEND TO COVER ALL SURFACES. PAT IT OR USE A FOAM BRUSH TO SPREAD THE MATERIAL EVENLY, LET DRY AT LEAST 24 HRS. VACCUUM OFF EXCESS. NOW THE FUN PART. USE A LARGE ERASER OR SMALL BLOCK OF WOOD TO WEAR DOWN OR BURNISH THE CENTER OF THE ROADWAY USE LIGHTER STROKES NEARER THE EDGES TO SIMULATE LESS WEAR FROM VEHICLE TRAFFIC, AGAIN CLEAN OFF EXCESS MATERIAL AND CONTINUE TO POLISH THE ROADWAY. DONT USE TOO MUCH PRESSURE TO WEAR AWAY THE EARTH BLEND. TRIAL AND ERROR. THEN USE THE END OF A WOOD HANDLE PUTTY KNIFE AND BEAR INTO THE SURFACE TO CREATE TIRE WEAR MARKS, THESE WILL BE LIGHTER THAN THE DIRT. NOW YOU BEGIN TO SEE THE ROAD LOOKING "REAL". ADD STAINS AND WEATHERING WITH TAN , BROWN, AND GRAY CHALKS. THIS SIMULATES MOTION ,GREASE, WATER, MUD ETC.. USE IT SPARINGLY TO START, YOU CAN ALWAYS MAKE IT MORE PRONOUNCED LATER. RUB IT IN WITH YOUR FINGERS OR BRUSHES UNTIL YOU ARE SATISFIED . PRACTICE! ENJOY

Great Pics Clifford. What materials did you use for your various graded crossings and do you have a preference for one in particular?
Thanks. HI, FOR HIGHWAYS AND PAVED ROADS I USE 1/8" OR 3/16" MASONITE. I CUT RELIEF GROOVE INTO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE PIECES TO LEAVE ROOM FOR THE TIE PLATES AND SPIKES, SO THE ROADWAY HAS A SMOOTH REALISTIC TRANSITION ACROSS THE TRACK. ON DIRT CROSSINGS I USE VARIOUS WIDTH BALSA WOOD, COLOR OR STAIN IT TO TASTE, DRAW LINES ON IT WITH A BLACK SHARPIE SUPERFINE MARKER TO SIMULATE 8"-12" WIDE BOARDS. COLORED CHALKS TONE IT DOWN AND SOMETIMES I USE "SKINNY STICKS"-1/4" WIDE X5" LONG CRAFT STICKS AVAILABLE AT WALMART, GREAT FOR MANY USES!
Clifford -
Thanks, I just printed out your instructions and took them downstairs and set it on my layout area that requires a dirt road.
Wow! Another beautiful layout. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more pictures or maybe a video in the future. I AM GOING TO TRY A WELL THOUGHT OUT VIDEO NEXT WEEK! THANKS FOR THE COMPLIMENT.
