Some say: get a loop of track down early in your layout construction, so you can see trains run. I need to be careful not to get carried away with this idea. This week saw work beginning on what will be a passenger yard, and the station made for me in the 1980's by my late father-in-law. The lower level of that structure can be seen in this video. There will be two run-through tracks and two stub-end tracks into the depot. However, the temptation to run is just so strong, so tonight I let more trains roll.   The lower level remains a parking lot of construction and other vehicles, as my 2 1/2 year old grandson loves his place to "push trains" and put dump trucks on flatbeds. Tonight, though, the trolleys ran on the streets and the 671 turbine stepped out again.

I can see that this layout will not be  super-scale, but rather more of  a postwar montage of sound and action.

Still,  it is just fun to watch the trains roll.
