Louie, If they could add a new cab stamping to the front that would be the ultimate!

Even if not, in the correct paint this would be a fun little set.

It might help folks understand if there was a description...

The Prospector was a 2 car (power-combine/coach-chamberette) streamlined trainset made by Budd.  It ran from 1941 to 1942 from Denver to Salt Lake City. There were 2 trainsets made. D&RGW touted "Through the Rockies, not around them"...I bet it was a nice trip.

The Yankee would be as close a match as possible with existing tooling and the Prospector scheme will be striking.

Sign me up.

I have no idea how to place one of those sets on my railroad, however I would be interested simply because it is a nice little train. I will admit I have been kind of holding out until the MTH folks build this set and the B&O 3 BUDD set also in PS3.

I think to start building shelves or find a reliable supply of extruded shelves strong enough for O scale... It's almost over the abyss of collecting cool trains versus running them.

OK. I'm confused. If this is being considered in tinplate, would that make it an entirely new model design?

I don't remember any tinplate train set by any manufacturer that looked like this. Will it be an entirely new design/stampings? Or will something already built be used as the model with a unique paint job being this model's only difference from what was  built before?

My questions are... what will it be made of - plastic or steel? What will it look like?

Whoops! I just re-read Lou's original post considering using the flying Yankee tools.dies.

That train wasn't shaped anything like the Prospector. The shovel nose, the roof bulge on the power car, the shape of the tail car - none of these Flying Yankee features match the contours of the Prospector.

It certainly isn't something i would order.
