Sorry if I missed a thread about this...if so please direct me to it. The looks great! I love the new technique of UV cured inkjet decoration on the cars. Made by the mysterious vendor in Winchester VA!

Thank you for your appreciation of this limited edition 2014 LCCA/LRRC Christmas boxcar made by Lionel. This is a nice transition piece in keeping with the tradition of the LRRC club offerings. We appreciate your continued support of the LCCA.

A couple of us posted on the old topic on the LCCA forum, but your post is the first on this forum. It's a nice looking car.
Dunno about this. Its too similar to the general-issue Lionel 2014 Christmas boxcar. And at $68, compared to the street price of $47 for the '14 Lionel car, I just don't see it. The LCCA guys at York said LCCA pretty much had to beg Lionel to make this car during negotiations regarding LCCA's adoption of the LRRC. I wonder why that was... & wonder if there will even be a similar club Christmas car for 2015? Just my thoughts.

Ron,
Its true that Lionel was not planning to produce a 2014 LRRC Christmas car. However, based upon feedback we at the LCCA were receiving from new LCCA members from the LRRC, we got together with Lionel and had this car produced. Lionel (and the LCCA) jumped through hoops to get this car made and delivered to our members before Christmas! Thank you Lionel! This is a project that Lionel and the LCCA did in an effort to welcome all LRRC members into the LCCA.
This car is Made in America, limited edition, small production run quantity with expedited timing, so I do not think our selling price of $67.95 (including the cost to ship to your home) is out of line. I believe this LCCA/LRRC 2014 Christmas car car will be desirable and of value to our LCCA members who are collectors and/or operators.
Stay tuned for future announcements about new LCCA/LRRC club products. We are currently having discussions with Lionel about new, exclusive LCCA club product offerings for 2015.

Can you provide more info on this process? I like the decoration on the car. I'm curious how the new process works?

Sounds like the LCCA/LRRC merger worked out well for me, at least this year! My only reason for belonging to the LRRC was to purchase the annual LRRC Christmas car. So, if there had not been a merger, I would be a disgruntled customer who wouldn't be renewing my LRRC membership in 2015 due to no 2014 LRRC Christmas car.
Thanks to all the folks at LCCA for persevering in producing the 2014 Christmas boxcar (and to Lionel for apparently reluctantly making the car happen). I was one of the LRRC folks posting about wanting a Christmas boxcar. I ordered the LCCA/LRRC car and as I posted, I've already received it. It's a nice looking car. It is similar to the regular Lionel 2014 Christmas boxcar, but I figured it might be due to the short timeline. There wasn't much time to come up with completely original graphics. I hope all 500 of the cars sell.
I can't make a comparison between the 2 2014 Christmas boxcars (LCCA/LRRC and Lionel) yet (I preordered the regular boxcar with a forum sponsor but it it waiting on the Frosty the Snowman boxcar before shipping), but it looks like the 2 cars are going to be complimentary.
I don't think it is fair to compare the street price of a regular Lionel item, sold in large quantities with dealers offering discounts, with a Club offering sold in smaller quantities. Looking at my receipts, the price of the 2013 LRRC Christmas car was $64.79 ($59.99 with no shipping charge and $4.80 tax) and the price of the 2014 LCCA/LRRC Christmas car is $67.95 (no shipping and no tax). So, there is 3 dollars and change for a price difference from last year.
Al K., do you think the LCCA might produce an annual Christmas boxcar in the future, 2015 and beyond? Or does that depend on how well the 2014 car sells?
If you do continue the cars, I'd suggest coming up with more unique graphics. Lionel has now used the locomotive graphic that is on the right side of the car 3 times! It is on the 2012 LRRC Christmas car, the 2014 Lionel Christmas car, and the LCCA/LRRC Christmas car. Time to retire the image and move on to something new.
If the LCCA mint car design contest goes well, maybe there can be an annual design contest for the LCCA Christmas boxcar?

Thank you for your positive comments and appreciation. We will see how this 2014 LRRC/LCCA car sells, but it is our intentions to offer a car next year. We are also having discussions with Lionel about introducing more future LCCA/LRRC product offerings. Stay tuned to our website for future announcements.
As far as the design contest for a Christmas car, we haven't really thought much about it yet. Sounds like a good idea to me. Let's wait and see how much participation we receive with the mint car design contest. Any questions, please call me at 248 708-4137. Welcome to the club and thanks for being a member of the LCCA!

My car came on Oct 30. I really like the looks of it, and the "Made in America" special graphics on the box. I don't normally assemble a Christmas train at Christmas, but I like having this and the two previous boxcars.

Thank you. We are glad you enjoy it. Take a photo of it with your Christmas train and send it to me at agkolis@comcast.net. It may get published on our website or one of our club publications.
