I will be buying a reel of 5mm led blue lights to put on 2 bridges on my layout what i don't understand is what do the letters smd mean,& right after that comes the numbers 5050,& another reel has smd 3528, second question is how amps of dc power supply do i need, should i go for higher amps incase i decide to use led lights else where on my layout? Thanks for your help.

I believe smd stands for surface mount device. At least that's what they stood for in the PC business. Don't have a clue what the numbers mean. Joe
