Hi everyone. I want to put a Lionel Legacy F7 powered A unit with a F7 powered B unit and a F7 non-powered A unit together as one unit. After reading the manual, it looks like I need to assign a number to the powered A unit and another number to the powered B unit. From there I assign a Train number to these 3 engines. Am I correct in this sequence or am I missing anything?

I thank and appreciate all that reply. Paul

Hi Paul,

I think that it will work best if you assign different numbers to all 3 units. And then build them as a lash-up.  I have an A-B-A Burlington F3s, and I assigned these as follows. Powered A as engine #62, powered B as engine #63, and non-powered A as engine #64. I then built these up as Train #62, setting the direction of engine #64 as reversed. This way the lights and couplers all work as expected when running as train #62.

Hi Paul. If your F7s are the current Legacy offering, then there should be a run/program switch in the dummy A unit (Also a smoke on/off switch.) I have the Milwaukee F7 A-A set, and have assigned those as engines #9 and #10 then built them as train #9.

On my A-B-A set, you can activate the coupler on the B unit if desired, by addressing engine #63, and then the rear coupler button.  If you activate the rear coupler on train #62, then the coupler on the dummy A unit will trigger.

Nicole, You were right as usual! My A powered and A non-powered both have the program switch. It was my B non-powered unit that had no program switch. I bought a powered B unit which I will incorporate into the units to make an ABBA set up. Going by what you said and the Lionel video, the two A's and powered B need to be assigned separate numbers and then all four units will be given a train number. Thanks again, Nicole.
