If you had TMCC before, you cant get this up and running very quickly BUT you will need to read the manual to get access to all of the features.  One of the most important differences between the new system and the old is/are "modes".  CAB-1 only had one mode, CAB-1.  It could't even access full feature set of every TMCC loco ever built.  CAB-1 is used for adjusting power supplies and some accessories.  TMCC mode and Legacy are used for everything else.

It would be worthwhile re-reading your locomotive manuals too. Many locomotives have some features that are only explained properly in their respective manuals. Even if you don't fully digest everything, it will help greatly to know roughly where to look for the answer when you have a question.

Anything I should know NOT to do when I open it up??  Or and tips TO do??

Thanks!

The Lionel website has a video tutorial how to set up and use Legacy command control. The initial hook up in the original manual was confusing to me.

The online videos are great.

I'd have to agree with Rick regarding the Legacy Manual.

As much as I like the retro appearance, the info within is difficult to find and sometimes lacking. One of the hurdles is that it's trying to address, at the same time, how to operate both Legacy AND TMCC locos. Seems like they would be better served to simply have two smaller, separate booklets to avoid confusion.

I'd also agree with Nicole regarding the loco manuals. They cover specifics that the general legacy manual doesn't.

The old manual for TMCC is up on the Lionel web site and can be downloaded.

Yes, it is specifically for TMCC BUT it's well organized and easy to read.  The Legacy manual(s) are neither.  Critical information is strewn through out the document and it's not always identified as critical.  It's not even a simple issue of re-organizing the pages.  It would require some serious editing to fix.   You do need to read it but it's a rather difficult read.
