The nut on my Legacy Base Station terminal is missing. I tried all the nuts at Home Depot. The 1/4 28 came the closest. The terminal is shown in the picture. What size is the nut or where can I buy a replacement? Thanks Carl

Likely metric. Measure the diameter (mm) and that should be the nut size. To be absolutely sure, take the base with you to the hardware store.
Put a banana plug on the wire, you won't need the nut in that case. 
That’s what I do, use a banana plug.
