About a week ago I posted about my first legacy conversion. That was an Lionel SD40 which used the RCMC. This however is a totally different story.
This MTH 119 started out with a 3v Ps2 board. The customer didn't like it so he wanted legacy. It was going to be a tight squeeze, but it was doable. Using the BEMC, RCDR, RS lite, and a speaker from digikey squeezed it into the tender(the speaker is vibrating in the video which I am resolving). I reused the Ps2 heat sink for the RCDR and used a heat sink I had laying around for the BEMC. I built a custom bracket out of brass for the RS lite. The BEMC and RCDR are on custom 3D printed brackets made by my friend @Bruk Banister. I trimmed one of them to fit around the heat sink. On the engine side I reused the 8 pin tether, but that limited me. I had to eliminate a wired ground connection between the locomotive and tender and couldn't have a cab light that turned off. So the cab light does stay on, but it looks good. The headlight I am using a 1206 chip LED which looks fantastic. The last thing was the smoke unit. It hasn't arrived yet, but @gunrunnerjohn recommended a small resistor from digikey which will fit in the tiny smoke unit and replace the MTH 8ohm resistor. I will post a video with smoke later. That is about it and I am happy with how this has turned out.
