Would it still be worth it to purchase a legacy engine, when I only have a TMCC system and DCS. I know some functionality won't work? Besides the speed steps, quilling, and signal strength, what else won't work in TMCC mode.

Depending on the engine some lighting effects and other added effects that don't interfere with the operation of the engine. I ran my Legacy engines for several years without Legacy and I was happy until I was ready to buy Legacy. It's kind of like balk and white versus color TV. You get the show in black and white and don't miss any thing that's going on but once you watch color TV for a while you would never go back to black and white. The engines are definitely worth it even if you only run TMCC.

I have one Legacy engine and enjoy it very much with TMCC. I plan to eventually go to Legacy.
I just got a Legacy Mikado last night and only have conventional control as I have not yet found a Legacy Command system to buy. it is definitely already my favorite engine, i can trigger crew talk with a short whistle blast, but after seeing whats possible with Legacy Command i will DEFIANTLY be purchasing a Command/Cab-2 Unit. Here is a video of my test run last night under completely conventional control I immagine it'd be almost as fun as Legacy with TMCC but if i'm going to make the jump i might as well go all the way.
