Proves they been sitting on these and it was a conspiracy to drive the price up

I think it's common knowledge that these units were here (in the US) earlier this year.

And here I thought they've been held up on the high seas by pirates all these months!!!

BTW, just ordered a #993 expansion unit from you.  Thought it would be good to grab an "extra" while you have them.    Thank you!!!

I wasn't planning to purchase one of these jewels today, 'cause I already have a #990 kit.  But when I saw that the #993 expansion kits had also shipped, I thought... "Now's as good a time as any to grab one."

The website still had the #993 sets as a pre-order (3 available at the time), so I completed the online transaction... Then called the store to confirm availability, and pay the balance.  That was around 3PM EDT, and by 5PM I had received a UPS email with the tracking number -- package arrival scheduled for tomorrow.

Superb service!!!    Thanks, Charlie and company!

Just curious, as I have an older 990 and wondering if I should buy one of these new ones to replace it or maybe have as an extra if it goes on the fritz.

This is a brand new 1st ever Legacy buy for me.  I've had TMCC equipped locomotives for a couple of years, but didn't even get Cab-1 set until last year.  After getting it working and having a taste of command goodness, I went head first and ordered the Big Boy and the 990.  When the 990 gets here, I'll be taking it over to a friends to run his Legacy locomotives to make sure things like the quilling whistle works.  I'l of course have my TMCC locomotives programmed in already.

I bought this as a back up, seeing how they can be hard to get I thought it a good idea to have a spare, I have a number of Legacy locos and would not like no means to run them.

My 990 was just returned to me from Lionel service and in a phone conversation with the tech after the repair I am almost certain he mentioned that along with servicing the dead serial port, which was the original problem, the charging circuitry was also replaced & updated because of overheating.

If I am not "mis-remembering" maybe the new 990's will have this.

Hey folks....new member here....and so excited to FINALLY get my hands on a 990 set.  I've been a cab-1 operator for over 10 years and after purchasing a legacy 2-10-4 and the Mark twain zephyr....it has been so frustrating to operate them in tmcc mode.  according to my ups tracking email,my package arrives tomorrow!

Thank you Mike Reagan for responding to my emails in a calm and timely manner when I sent you messages of my frustration with this matter.  To anybody working the phones at Lionel Headquarters.... Please accept my apologies for flying off the handle when you had no explanation as to when the 990 sets would be shipped.  And finally to the the poor souls who updated the shipping schedule on the Lionel website....you should feel less pain now since i took the needles out of your voodoo dolls!

Congratulations!!  I can't wait to get mine!  Have a great time!
