Awesome.
Hope I'm one of the lucky ones to ship today!
EDIT-I was, just got the UPS tracking number! Now I'm really excited!
Interesting... the SKU labels on the shipping cartons -- at least those I could read -- have factory dates in the range of early Jan 2014 (#993 expansion kits) to Feb/March 2014 (#990 kits) on them. And here we are in late August.

Proves they been sitting on these and it was a conspiracy to drive the price up

I think it's common knowledge that these units were here (in the US) earlier this year.
Actually I never knew if they were stopped in China or in the US. So I assume they must have had the crew in NC swap the parts

And here I thought they've been held up on the high seas by pirates all these months!!!
BTW, just ordered a #993 expansion unit from you. Thought it would be good to grab an "extra" while you have them. Thank you!!!
David
Rocky
I had the same idea as you. Just ordered the 993 expansion unit from him also.

So Charlie anything new or different in them at all? Still ship with the (pretty much worthless) generic modules? What version of the OS is on them?
About to do the same.
On the way, UPS picking up now
Charlie,
Can't get into your WEBSITE. Just curious on ORDER #415, how soon will the (3) 990's go out with everything else I have ordered?

I saw a Used one up for auction tonight on the bay with the winning bid of $355 plus $15 for shipping! There was 23 bids on it with 2 guys bidding against each other.
Thank you Nassau Hobby Center and other forum sponsors for informing us about these shipping!
I wasn't planning to purchase one of these jewels today, 'cause I already have a #990 kit. But when I saw that the #993 expansion kits had also shipped, I thought... "Now's as good a time as any to grab one."
The website still had the #993 sets as a pre-order (3 available at the time), so I completed the online transaction... Then called the store to confirm availability, and pay the balance. That was around 3PM EDT, and by 5PM I had received a UPS email with the tracking number -- package arrival scheduled for tomorrow.
Superb service!!! Thanks, Charlie and company!
David
Thanks David, we aim to please!
Are most of you folks buying these new to Legacy or are you buying these to replace older hardware versions?
Just curious, as I have an older 990 and wondering if I should buy one of these new ones to replace it or maybe have as an extra if it goes on the fritz.
Really no reason to, the new ones are not much different than the old ones. If yours is working why rush and get another one. Perhaps just get a 993 for a spare one

Call them. 516-378-9594. Those telephone gizmos are great little devices.
Just called up the Nassau site, works fine for me.

This is a brand new 1st ever Legacy buy for me. I've had TMCC equipped locomotives for a couple of years, but didn't even get Cab-1 set until last year. After getting it working and having a taste of command goodness, I went head first and ordered the Big Boy and the 990. When the 990 gets here, I'll be taking it over to a friends to run his Legacy locomotives to make sure things like the quilling whistle works. I'l of course have my TMCC locomotives programmed in already.

They are showing Legacy 993 as an expansion set. How is that different from 990 which is more money. called but must be gone for the day.
Also is the base "only" available as a seperate item?
Thank you

I bought this as a back up, seeing how they can be hard to get I thought it a good idea to have a spare, I have a number of Legacy locos and would not like no means to run them.

The expansion set only has a additional remote and charger. The 990 includes the remote , charger and base. The 1st thing you have to have is the complete 990 set.
Hope I explained it correctly.

The LEGACY #993 is basically just the CAB-2 REMOTE with a Recharger..
A nice thing about the 993 is that it recharges the CAB-2 batteries a lot cooler than the 990 base does.
My 990 was just returned to me from Lionel service and in a phone conversation with the tech after the repair I am almost certain he mentioned that along with servicing the dead serial port, which was the original problem, the charging circuitry was also replaced & updated because of overheating.
If I am not "mis-remembering" maybe the new 990's will have this.
I sent both of mine to Lionel for the recharging updates, and the #990 still gets the CAB2 much hotter than the #993 charger. Even sitting in the base with charging disabled gets the CAB2 pretty warm, so that's understandable.
Makes sense as I have that charger off and the contacts taped. When I pick up the CAB2 after the base has been running a spell, it's quite warm. Since the CAB2 is off, and the batteries are not charging, the only source of heat is the base logic, and not the charger.
My 990 arrives tomorrow morning. I can't wait.
Hey folks....new member here....and so excited to FINALLY get my hands on a 990 set. I've been a cab-1 operator for over 10 years and after purchasing a legacy 2-10-4 and the Mark twain zephyr....it has been so frustrating to operate them in tmcc mode. according to my ups tracking email,my package arrives tomorrow!
Thank you Mike Reagan for responding to my emails in a calm and timely manner when I sent you messages of my frustration with this matter. To anybody working the phones at Lionel Headquarters.... Please accept my apologies for flying off the handle when you had no explanation as to when the 990 sets would be shipped. And finally to the the poor souls who updated the shipping schedule on the Lionel website....you should feel less pain now since i took the needles out of your voodoo dolls!
Congratulations!! I can't wait to get mine! Have a great time!
Thanks guys, we made it a priority to turn them around and get them out asap! Over 50 "single" units went out the same day and the next day we sent out the "mulitiple" unit orders next plus the overage.
I think we were ahead of the curve on this. The day before we generated the UPS lables so we could get them out the door.
