This is the only engine I am excited about in the latest Lionel catalog....

N de M

It was featured today on Lionel's blog.  This link should take you there.  For those of you that have experience, does the fact that Lionel issued an actual photograph of this product indicate that it is likely to be brought to market?  Granted this is a small segment of their customer base but are there others on the Forum that are also interested in purchasing this engine?

I am not sure if "a more simplified sound system than their two-unit VISION sisters" means only one speaker in each unit.  The N de M Centipede's web page is a copy of the A-A Vision Line units.  It is a bummer you have to pre-order an item without definitive information about an engine's features, but I am pretty sure if enough are not ordered it won't be produced....a real catch 22.  Anyone have an educated guess of just how many have to be ordered to justify production. I emailed Talk to Us with questions about its features, and they promptly replied but were unable to provide any specifics about the engine's features or its production.

Kevin , save yourself the potential disappointment/aggrivation and wait to see if Lionel makes it and purchase it after its delivered. That way you can be certain of what features it truly has or doesn't have. Lionel has been all over the place with product features, versus the description, versus the actual finished product. If it doesn't get made then it was "never meant to be" as they say.

LaFondue,

Thanks for the video clip.  Happy to hear that the Legacy Centipedes will have 2 speakers!  I will bridle my enthusiasm, with the reality that it may not make it into production, but I will keep my fingers crossed.

I doubt Lionel will manufacturer much in the way of rolling stock.  Atlas just released this car....

I have both road numbers and they are excellent cars from the Trainman series.
