Solved!!
My new Legacy Pere Marquette Berkshire was behaving erratically on my small living room layout.
It would slow down at times and then power down at times on a section of my O72 curve track.
For a newbie, it was a head scratcher.
Even my Big Boy would act the same after going over this same section.
So, I went to work and did the following:
Cleaned the rails of that curve track.
For the first time, cleaned the contacts of the curve track.
Swapped that section of curve track with another (cleaned up that section too).
Cleaned the rails of the terminal track and its contacts.
Made sure the power wires were connected to the terminal track and squeezed them a bit.
Made sure the power wires were connected to the transformer OK.
Lastly, turned over the Berkshire to clean its power rollers.
Surprise!!
The front unit is a dual roller unit held in place by one phillips head screw.
The front roller was cocked 3/32 inch to starboard; the rear was cocked 3/32 inch to port.
Loosened the screw and rotated the unit to get it straight.
Also did some work on the Big Boy rollers too to get them aligned.
Now, both locos run better than they ever did: no hesitations, no power downs.
So, with the Legacy models, you have to be real considerate of power delivery.
Hope this helps others.
