If I want cut wave operation with my legacy handheld and base what power source do it need. I want the extra smoke that is demonstrated on lionels videos. thanks for any answers.
I used my "old" ZW for many years til I watched the Lionel smooth vs chopped sine wave video. Since then I've used the CW-80 from our Polar set. You want a modern Lionel transformer.
I will say that my max voltage reading with either of my CW-80's seems to hover just north of 14v, while my ZW-C with 135w bricks gets up to just under 18v on each of the 4 handles.
I do notice a difference in the smoke output of my legacy locos between the two transformer options.
