rtr12,

Thanks much it looks like all of the different Legacy Crane Cars are now scheduled for the 14th of Nov instead of the 4th of Feb, have you seen a picture of the MOW Crane Car, interested in just what color scheme Lionel used on it.  If it's decent I want to add to the WAG Logging Train I am putting together.  Well maybe I will have one for next Christmas!

andy b,

Thanks much for the reference point & picture, looks pretty darn awesome and now the Boom Car is going to have work sounds in it, serious remote control from the Cab2 no doubt about it.  I am definitely looking forward to adding this Legacy MOW to the WAB Logging Train.  Patrick or Charlie doing any Pre- Orders for us on this Legacy set?

Pine Creek,

I pre-ordered from Nassau Hobby - one of the forum sponsors.  Charlie is great to work with.   There are other train sites including other forum sponsors that still have their pre-order page up as well.  You can google "lionel 6-81885" and find several.  ...or google "nassau hobby lionel 6-81885"

I think it's worth it though, Dave. I think you'll have a lot of fun with it. I sure did when I had the BN crane/boom set!

I also have the yellow MOW set on order. I had planned to paint it after I received it, but, not sure now ... it just looks so sharp as it is. Lol.

I do wish Lionel could do a little better job maintaining/creating their shipping schedule.

All it means is that when it got added to the shipping schedule on the website they were planning to ship it November of 2014.  November has come and gone and it hasn't shipped, yet the web page doesn't reflect this.  This is a big grip for a lot of people, that Lionel doesn't do the greatest job at keeping the schedule correct and updated.  Another example is some stuff I ordered along with my VL BB.  I ordered the aux tender, caboose and sound reefers.  The reefers were originally posted with NOV 14 as the date, then in November got changed to JAN 15, but it's February and they aren't here yet, nor did the schedule get changed to reflect it.  The caboose was also listed as NOV 14, but isn't here nor has the date been changed since.  The aux tender isn't even on the schedule.

The best thing to do is pre order it with a good dealer, like you did, and they will ship to you as soon as they get it.

MAKE SURE YOU GET THE BOOM CAR SO YOU HAVE SYNCHRONIZED SOUND TOO!!

IMO the TMCC/legacy crane/boom cars are arguably one of the best command control anything Lionel has ever created, possibly better than many locos.

These things were Vision Line worthy long before there was a Vision line!!!!

Bottom Line, worth every penny!!!

The crane and crane tender are showing as available on Mr. Muffins website. I don't know if available means that it is in stock.

I have mine on pre order with Nicholas Smith, but have not heard anything from them yet.

EDIT:

I called the store (Mr. Muffin) and they are still available to order, but are not in stock.

Looks to me like Nov 2014 is about when the 2014 v2 catalog came out showing these for the first time? My guess is Lionel doesn't yet have a known shipping date? So I would imagine it will be a while.

Just keep checking the shipping schedule and eventually a proper date will appear, or an updated one anyway. It does appear to me that the manufacturers are starting to release product closer to their posted shipping dates.
